Jury Info

Call Before You Report

All jurors are required to call the Jury Line number:

  • 307/433-2195 (Cheyenne local)

Please have your 9 digit participant number ready as you will need this to receive your personal reporting instructions for the following week. Please call 307-433-2195 (Cheyenne only) or 800-894-5264 after 4:00pm every Friday during the duration of your jury service. The numbers are extremely busy, so please keep trying.

Please DO NOT REPORT for jury duty unless instructed to do so by the Jury Line. The Jury Line has the most up-to-date information and will override any written instructions you may have received. If you receive a temporary excuse, you MUST start calling the Jury Line when your excusal date has expired.

It is your responsibility to check your juror status every week. Thank you in advance for your dedicated service as a juror to the US District Court, if you have any questions, please contact our office.

Juror Excuses

Permanent Excuse: When requesting a permanent excuse, it MUST be submitted in writing, either by email to wyojury@wyd.uscourts.gov or letter.  Do not have your employer write a letter for you.

Medical Excuse: If you are requesting a medical excuse, you MUST have a note from your Doctor. The Court cannot call and verify your medical condition with your doctor.

Temporary Excuse: You need to make the request a minimum of ten (10) days in advance of the date(s) you are asking to be excused. Requests MUST be in writing and please be very explicit as to the reason and date(s) you are asking for.

In all correspondence (email or letter), please be sure to include your participant number, address and telephone number.

Payment for Service

For each day of service you will be paid $50.00. Juror's fees are taxable. You will only receive an IRS 1099 if you earn $600.00 or more in juror fees (mileage not included.) Effective January 1, 2024, jurors who live at least ten miles from the city limits will also receive mileage of $0.67 per mile. Checks are prepared at the end of each trial.

Parking

Cheyenne Jurors:

You MUST bring you license plate number, make and model of your vehicle when you check in for jury service.  This is provided to Cheyenne Police Department to exempt you from a parking ticket, as there is no set parking available at the Courthouse. Please do not park in any church or bank parking lots. You may park at a disabled space only if you have a disabled sticker. You need to park in spaces that are for 2 hours or longer

You are instructed NOT to park along the north or south sides of the building as those areas are reserved for law enforcement. You may park in the Cox Parking Garage at 400 West 20th. PLEASE BE SURE TO BRING YOUR LICENSE PLATE NUMBER TO CHECK IN.

Casper Jurors:

There is no parking available at the Courthouse. Please do not park in any church, bank parking lots or along the side or back of the Courthouse, as it is reserved parking. You may park in a disabled space only if you have a disabled sticker. Please park in the parking garage located at 230 S. Wolcott on the corner of Midwest and Wolcott, one block South of the Courthouse. There may not be an attendant on duty, however, please park in an hourly parking spot. The total charge for parking Monday‐Thursday is $13.00 per day and $14.00 on Friday. Please make sure you bring your receipt for parking so you can be reimbursed upon completion of the trial. The Court is NOT responsible for parking tickets received during jury selection.

Court Etiquette

During periods you are called to serve as a juror, we ask that you use good judgment in attire (no hats, no shorts, must wear shoes, etc). Please observe the rules of etiquette in the Courtroom in order to maintain the dignity and formality of the Court, with the exception of bottled water, NO FOOD OR DRINKS ARE ALLOWED IN THE COURTROOM.

Division By Counties

The current Wyoming Jury Plan went into effect in August 2009. That plan specifies which counties comprise which jury pool.

The divisions are broken down by Counties as follows:
Cheyenne: Albany, Carbon, Goshen, Laramie, Platte and Sweetwater
Casper: Big Horn, Campbell, Converse, Crook, Hot Springs, Johnson, Natrona, Niobrara, Park, Sheridan, Washakie and Weston
Lander: Fremont
Jackson: Lincoln, Sublette, Teton and Uinta
Grand Jury is comprised of citizens from all 23 counties in Wyoming
